Mushroom hot chocolate has a price problem. The pouches look similar, the prices on the front look similar, and then you notice one brand gets 15 cups out of a pack and another gets 30. So we did the boring bit for you: we took the UK price and the serving each brand states on its own website, and worked out what a cup of mushroom hot chocolate actually costs. The chart above has the answer. Here is how we got there.
Key takeaways
- Shroom Riot works out at 67p a cup one-off, or 53p a cup on subscription.
- DIRTEA Cacao is £1.43 a cup and every·state is £1.50 a cup, one-off, on their own sites.
- A cup a day for a month: £19.99 for Shroom Riot, against £43 for DIRTEA and £45 for every·state.
- Serving sizes differ: Shroom Riot is a 10g cup, the others are 6g or 7g.
- Prices were checked on each brand's own UK website on 6 October 2026, before delivery.
How we worked out cost per cup
We kept it simple and fair. For each brand we used:
- the one-off price shown on the brand's own UK product page, not a reseller and not a sale;
- the number of servings the brand itself states for that pack;
- the serving size the brand itself states, in grams.
Cost per cup is the price divided by the stated servings. Cost per month is that figure for a cup a day over 30 days. Delivery is left out because it depends on your basket, and every brand has its own threshold for free delivery. We checked every price on 6 October 2026. Prices change, so treat this as a snapshot and check the brand's own site before you buy.
What a cup costs, brand by brand
Here are the numbers behind the chart, one-off prices first:
- Shroom Riot: £19.99 for a 300g pouch of 30 servings at 10g each, so 67p a cup.
- Rheal Coco Dream: £15 for 15 servings at 6g each, so £1.00 a cup.
- DIRTEA Cacao: £43 for a 180g pouch of 30 servings at 6g each, so £1.43 a cup.
- every·state: £45 for 30 cups at 7g each, so £1.50 a cup.
Put plainly, a cup of Shroom Riot costs less than half a cup of DIRTEA or every·state, and about two thirds of a cup of Rheal.
A cup a day for a month
Per cup figures look small, so here is the same thing over a month of daily cups:
- Shroom Riot: £19.99 (£15.99 on subscription)
- Rheal Coco Dream: £30 (two 15-serving packs)
- DIRTEA Cacao: £43
- every·state: £45
That is a difference of more than £20 a month between Shroom Riot and the two most expensive options, every month you drink it.
Why serving size matters
Comparing per cup only works if a cup means the same thing, and it doesn't. Shroom Riot's serving is 10g of powder in 200ml. DIRTEA and Rheal state 6g, and every·state states 7g. So the cheaper Shroom Riot cup is also the bigger one.
If you would rather compare like for like by weight, look at the cost per 10g of powder in the table under the chart. On that measure Shroom Riot is 67p, Rheal is £1.67, every·state is £2.14 and DIRTEA is £2.39. The gap gets wider, not narrower.
Subscribing changes the maths
Most of these brands offer a subscription, and each one changes the numbers:
- Shroom Riot: 20% off, £15.99 a pouch, which is 53p a cup. UK subscriptions ship free, and you can choose every month or every two months.
- Rheal Coco Dream: 20% off, £12 for 15 servings, so 80p a cup.
- DIRTEA Cacao: 30% off, £31, so £1.03 a cup.
- every·state: 20% off, £36, so £1.20 a cup.
Even with everyone on their best subscription price, Shroom Riot is the lowest of the four per cup. And £15.99 is our launch price: subscribe now and you keep £15.99 a pouch for as long as your subscription stays active, even when our price rises to £24.99 (£19.99 on subscription) in 2027. Pausing or skipping a delivery keeps it.
What you get for 67p
A lower price only matters if the cup is worth drinking, so here is what is in ours. Shroom Riot is cocoa blended with four mushrooms in equal 25% parts: lion's mane, reishi, cordyceps and chaga. It is a whole-mushroom powder, not a concentrated extract, milled fine enough that at least 98% passes an 80-mesh screen, so it dissolves into the cup instead of sitting on top. It tastes like proper hot chocolate. The full ingredients are whey powder (milk), cocoa powder, maltodextrin, the 4-mushroom blend, sunflower lecithin, xanthan gum and sucralose, so it contains milk and is not suitable for vegans. It is made in the UK, and our about page lists the specification the mushroom blend is bought against.
If you want to make the most of every 10g, our guide to how to make mushroom hot chocolate covers the method, and the usage guide has it in brief.
FAQs
How much does mushroom hot chocolate cost per cup in the UK?
On the brands' own UK websites on 6 October 2026, it ranged from 67p a cup for Shroom Riot to £1.50 a cup for every·state, one-off. DIRTEA Cacao was £1.43 and Rheal Coco Dream was £1.00.
Is subscribing cheaper?
Yes, for all four brands we checked. Shroom Riot drops to 53p a cup at 20% off, with free UK delivery on subscriptions. The others drop to between 80p and £1.20 a cup.
Why are the serving sizes different?
Each brand sets its own serving. Shroom Riot uses 10g in 200ml. DIRTEA and Rheal state 6g and every·state states 7g, so per gram of powder the price gap is bigger than per cup.
Do these prices include delivery?
No. Delivery depends on your basket and each brand's free-delivery threshold. Shroom Riot's UK delivery is £3.99, free from £30, and free on UK subscriptions.
More cups, bigger cups, less money: that's the whole pitch. Lock in the launch price: subscribe to Shroom Riot Cocoa and keep £15.99 a pouch, with free UK delivery. Riot against the ordinary.
